Hotel Austral is conveniently located, and can be the ideal starting point for a walking tour of Saint-Denis during which you could visit:
- the pedestrian shopping street in the town centre
- the Rue de Paris with its Creole houses, museums and Jardin de l’Etat public park
- places of worship (Cathedral, Hindu temple, Chinese temples)
- the Barachois area on the seafront
With a car you can admire Saint-Denis by night from the ‘3 cannons’ site on the road up to La Montagne district. Excursions are also possible in the hills and mountains above the town.
The hotel is near Saint-Denis’ bus station, and you can explore all the island’s tourist attractions (mountainous cirques, volcano) at your leisure by taking one of the yellow ‘Car jaune’ buses that serve the island.
