Port Louis, the capital, with its buzzing business centre, its crowded, colourful, local market (bazaar), its monuments, its different places of worship, is so typically Mauritian! The old and the new mingle through the contrast between the high-rise, the modern shopping centre of the Caudan Waterfront and the still existing colonial buildings.

Visit the Blue Penny Historical and Art Museum.

After lunch in the lively city, take a breath of fresh air at Pamplemousses Botanical Garden.
